Siargao coverage: good at Cloud 9, thin everywhere north
The Cloud 9 boardwalk has good Smart signal. Ride 40 minutes to the north coast breaks and it thins out — which matters more here because Grab barely operates and you will be on a scooter.

Where the signal holds
Siargao is the Philippines' surf capital, and its coverage follows the surf tourism rather than the island. Cloud 9, the famous right-hand break, has good Smart signal at the boardwalk — which is convenient, because that is where people wait, watch the sets and decide whether to paddle out.
General Luna and the Cloud 9 side is the developed part of the island, and it behaves accordingly. If your trip is that stretch plus a few restaurants, connectivity is not an issue you need to think about.
Where it does not
The island's remote breaks are a different matter. The north coast around Pacifico Beach and the western bays have limited signal. So does the water on the half-day island-hopping trip to Naked, Daku and Guyam islands, which has offshore gaps.
What makes this more than a nuisance is how you get around. Grab is limited on Siargao. The standard transport is a habal-habal motorbike or a rented scooter, which means you personally ride out to those breaks, often alone, and arrive somewhere with patchy signal and no ride app to call on. Nobody is dispatching you a car from Pacifico.
So the preparation is worth doing properly:
- Download tide tables and surf forecasts — Windguru, Surfline — before you ride out, not when you get there.
- Pre-load Google Maps offline for the whole island rather than the bit you think you are visiting.
- For the island-hopping trip, sort anything you need for the afternoon before you get on the boat.
Prices, which are national

The ladder runs to 50 GB, and at $0.96 per gigabyte that is the cheapest data we hold for the Philippines — relevant if Siargao is a long stay rather than a week, which for surfers it often is. Airalo's verified unlimited tiers are $11.50 for three days, $18.50 for five, $27 for seven, $34.50 for ten, $48 for 15 and $71 for 30.

One thing an unlimited plan does not buy you here: coverage at Pacifico. The limit on the north coast is the network, not your allowance.
Which carrier, and where to buy
The source we have names Smart at the Cloud 9 boardwalk, and that is a statement about the Philippine network, not about any eSIM. We cannot tell you which carrier a travel eSIM will place you on. Airalo does not publish a host network for the Philippines. Saily, Nomad and Holafly publish none either, and the Smart and Globe names our data once carried against eSIMCard's rows came from this site's own text. Airalo's Philippine product is sold as Alpas Mobile, which is a product name.
If you want to be certain of being on Smart at the north-coast breaks, the only reliable route is buying a Smart SIM in person. A local SIM costs about $5 at the airport and needs a passport or ID to register. We hold no Siargao shop names or locations, so we are not going to name any.

Common questions
Is there signal at Cloud 9?
Yes — the boardwalk at Cloud 9 has good Smart signal. It is the developed side of the island and behaves like the rest of General Luna.
Will I have data at Siargao's remote surf breaks?
Not reliably. The north coast around Pacifico Beach and the western bays have limited signal. Download tide tables and surf forecasts, plus offline maps of the whole island, before you ride out — no plan size fixes a gap in the network itself.
Does Grab work on Siargao?
Only in a limited way. The normal transport is a habal-habal motorbike or a rented scooter. That is worth planning for: at the remote breaks you have both patchy signal and no practical ride app to fall back on.
