Rotterdam The Hague (RTM): a five-minute queue you probably don't need to join

What is actually available

Our source names KPN and Vodafone as available in the RTM arrivals hall, and in the same breath describes the airport's SIM provision as limited. Both things can be true — a shelf in a shop is not a staffed carrier desk — so the useful reading is: something may be on sale, and you should not plan around it.

We do not hold opening hours for whatever is there, which matters more at a small airport than a large one. What we do have is the wait: about five minutes at peak, two off-peak.

The Netherlands does not require ID to buy a prepaid SIM, so if you do find one on sale it is an instant purchase — no passport, no registration, no form. That is why a five-minute Dutch queue is a genuine five minutes, where the same queue in Austria or Denmark would be mostly paperwork.

Free WiFi covers the terminal, which is enough to buy and install an eSIM in arrivals if you land without data.

Most people here need nothing at all

The Netherlands is in the European Union, so roam-like-at-home applies: an EU or EEA SIM works on your domestic allowance at domestic prices, with nothing to buy. Rotterdam The Hague runs short-haul European routes, so a larger share of its arrivals than Schiphol's are already covered before the wheels touch down. Norwegian and Icelandic SIMs count too — both countries are in the EEA.

That leaves two groups. UK travellers should check their own operator, because British networks took different positions on EU roaming after Brexit and several reintroduced charges. And anyone arriving from outside the EEA — who, at this airport, has usually connected from somewhere else in Europe — needs to have sorted data before they got here, because RTM is not the place to fix it.

If you do need to buy

Install an eSIM before you fly. It is live on landing, and it costs less per gigabyte than the roughly $18 a starter pack typically runs at a Dutch airport.

The Airalo rows were read from Airalo's own site on 13 August 2026 and the Saily rows from Saily's on 16 August 2026; both are verified. Hé Hé is Airalo's name for the Dutch package, not a network.

Saily undercutting Airalo by a cent at 10 and 20 GB is the pattern across the whole Dutch market, and it is exactly as decisive as it sounds. The Dutch ladder is worth reading to the bottom instead. Fifty gigabytes for $36 is $0.72 each, less than half the rate of the 10 GB plan — this is not an expensive country to buy data in unless you buy small.

On networks: eSIMCard lists KPN and Odido, and nobody else lists anything. That is the provider's own listing and it is not confirmed by us. Airalo, Saily, Nomad and Holafly publish no host network for the Netherlands at all. For a trip between Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam it is unlikely to matter; all three Dutch operators serve the built-up west of the country.
