Buying mobile data in Brussels

Brussels is not a special case

Nothing in our Belgian data prices Brussels differently from Ghent, Antwerp or the coast. The same plans, at the same prices, are what you buy for any Belgian address. Brussels does concentrate the country's heaviest business data use — the European Commission, the Parliament, NATO's headquarters and the institution district around Schuman and Etterbeek — and networks in a capital of that kind are engineered for the load. We have not run our own measurements here, so we will not publish a coverage figure we cannot stand behind.

That makes the useful question not "which eSIM for Brussels" but "do you need to buy anything at all". For a large share of arrivals, you don't.

Most EU and EEA arrivals should buy nothing

If your phone contract is from an EU or EEA country, roam-like-at-home applies in Belgium: your normal allowance, at your normal price, with no purchase to make. A Belgian eSIM on top of that solves a problem you do not have. The one thing worth checking before you fly is your plan's fair-use roaming cap, which is often smaller than the domestic allowance and is what actually catches people out.

Everyone else — arrivals from the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and most of Asia — is choosing between a travel eSIM and a Belgian prepaid SIM.

What the ladder actually looks like

Prices are per plan in US dollars, with the duration attached, because a cheap-looking 5 GB for three days is not cheap. Airalo's rows were read from its own store on 13 August 2026, Nomad's from its own site on 17 August 2026 and Saily's from its own site on 18 August 2026.

The top of that ladder is the part people miss. Belgium does not stop at 20 GB: the verified 50 GB for 30 days at $32.50 is the cheapest gigabyte in the country, and about six times better per GB than the 1 GB starter. An earlier version of this page said Nomad undercut it at $29. That was wrong — the price is $45, and nothing here beats $32.50.

Airalo sells Belgium under two badges, Belganet and Belganet+, and the same size shows up at both. 10 GB for 30 days is $13 as Belganet and $19.50 as Belganet+. Airalo does not tell us what the premium buys, and we are not going to guess on its behalf. Buy the cheaper badge unless you have a specific reason for the dearer one.

Which network you land on

We cannot tell you, and neither can anyone else honestly. Airalo does not publish a host network for any country, Belgium included, and Saily publishes none here either — Belganet is a retail name on a checkout page, not a carrier. Nomad publishes nothing either; the Proximus and Orange line this page used to carry against its plans came from generated text rather than from Nomad. Holafly names nothing either. This page used to give it Proximus, Orange and Base, which came from our own data; Holafly publishes no host carrier for any country — we read its prices for 28 of them off esim.holafly.com on 18 August 2026 and not one names an operator.

Belgium-only plans stop at the border

Brussels-Midi/Zuid is the Eurostar hub — London, Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne all leave from there — and plenty of Brussels trips are really two- or three-country trips. Everything in the table above is a Belgium plan. It will not follow you to Paris or Amsterdam, and the UK sits outside EU roaming altogether, so a Belgian SIM becomes dead weight the moment you board for London. If you are hopping, price a regional plan rather than a national one; those are not part of the Belgian data behind the Belgium hub.

Buying one in the city

Belgian prepaid registration requires a passport or ID card. That paperwork is the main practical reason to sort connectivity out before you land rather than after. A counter SIM at the airport runs around $12 in our data, but we do not hold what allowance comes with it, so we cannot put it on a per-gigabyte footing against the table above. In town, Proximus, Orange Belgium and Base/Telenet Mobile all run staffed shops on the main shopping streets and in the larger stations.

For getting around once you are connected: STIB/MIVB covers the metro, tram and bus network, and both Bolt and Uber operate in the city.
