The airport where doing nothing is not an option

Across most of this region the honest advice is to walk past the counters. Land at Prague, Brussels, Ljubljana or Varna with an EU plan and roam-like-at-home covers you at domestic rates, so the correct spend in arrivals is zero.

Serbia is not in the EU, and that changes the whole shape of the decision. An EU or EEA bundle does not extend here. Whatever your home operator charges for roaming outside the zone is what you will pay, and that is the sort of number people discover afterwards. Belgrade is one of the few airports we cover where nearly every arriving traveller has a real choice to make on the spot.

What is in arrivals

Yettel Serbia and A1 Serbia both have counters in the arrivals hall. Telekom Srbija, the third operator, is not on our record as selling there.

The queue is 12 minutes at peak and 4 off-peak. Serbia requires ID for SIM registration, so a passport comes out and details are entered — part of that 12 minutes is the form, not the till.

We hold no opening hours for either counter. Belgrade takes late arrivals from across Europe and the Gulf, and if you are on one of those, an eSIM installed before departure removes the risk entirely.

Our country record puts a typical Serbian airport SIM at around $14. That is the most expensive airport figure in this group of countries — Bulgaria sits at about $9, Belgium and Slovenia at $12 — and it reflects a market that is dearer across the board.

Serbia is the priciest market in this batch

These prices were read from the provider's own Serbian checkout on 13 August 2026, in US dollars.

The cheapest verified gigabyte in Serbia is $0.70, on Nomad's 50 GB plan; Airalo's 50 GB works out at $0.98. Our Serbian pages have carried two wrong floors before this one — $2.00, which came from generated text, and $0.98, which was right for Airalo but published while Nomad's prices sat unchecked. At $0.70 Serbia is no longer the dearest market on this page: Bulgaria and the Czech Republic reach $0.72, and Belgium $0.65.

Serbia Mobile is Airalo's own product name for the country, not a carrier.

One correction. This page used to warn that Nomad's Serbian listings sat far above Airalo's at the same sizes, on figures nobody had read from a checkout. Nomad's prices have since been read at source and the reverse is true: it undercuts Airalo at every size and holds the country's cheapest gigabyte. Check the live price rather than trusting a table — including ours.

Which network you land on

No provider publishes anything. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name no host network for Serbia, as they name none anywhere; the A1, Yettel and mts trio this page once printed against Holafly's rows came from our own data rather than from Holafly.

That leaves the counters as the only place where the network is certain, which in a non-EU country with dearer roaming is a stronger argument than it would be in Belgium or Bulgaria. If you are travelling beyond Belgrade — south, or into the mountains — and coverage is the thing you care about, buying from the operator itself in arrivals is defensible even at $14.

What we would do

Short trip, city only, phone supports eSIM: install before you fly. Even at Serbia's prices, $18 for 10 GB over 30 days beats discovering your home operator's non-EU roaming rate, and it skips the passport and the 12 minutes.

Longer trip, or travelling outside Belgrade, or you want a Serbian number: use the counters. Free wi-fi is generally available at the airport either way, so an eSIM can also be installed after landing. Full prices are on our Serbia hub.
